The Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation once again sponsored the Intern Golf Outing this year at the The Shores/Five Island Golf Course in Emmetsburg. This year’s event had a great turnout that consisted of interns and area business leaders. While playing in teams of four, the interns enjoyed beautiful weather and the opportunity to connect with local business leaders on a more casual level outside of the office. This is just one of the events that is sponsored by the Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation for the summer Intern Program. Maureen Elbert commented, “These initiatives have been successful as networking opportunities for our area interns. This is one of the great ways K/PACEDC provides the interns with an avenue to learn more about the companies in our area, as well as making those very important connections for the future. We would also like to thank The Shores/Five Island Golf Course for making this event run so smoothly.”
The interns were also able to compete for a few prizes during their outing. Jeff Buchanan from ISG won Men’s Longest Drive, and Allison Droege from Smithfield Hog Production won Women’s Longest Drive. Jayna Mickelson of DuPont Pioneer came out as the winner for Women’s Longest Putt, while Jeff Buchanan of ISG had Men’s Longest Putt. The prize for highest team score went to Laura Klaes and Celeste Swanson from MaxYield Cooperative’s team, and the prize for lowest score went to Jake Baur and Riley Kindwall from MaxYield Cooperative’s team.
