Burt, Iowa
The welcome sign that greets you on Highway 169 west of Burt includes the town’s motto, “The Little Town With the Big Heart and Helping Hand”.
Burt is located in the heart of Kossuth County and has about 600 people. Burt was established with the coming of the Northwestern Railroad in 1881. A hundred-year-old landmark in town is the big hotel first known as Peck’s Hotel. It is now owned by the Larsons and is located on the main street of town. For the youth of Burt there is a swimming pool, basketball court, three playground areas, a tennis court, baseball fields, and many community activities.

Tour Stateline Co-op, a full service farmer facility - from grain handling to agronomy and feed. Burt also has several nice playground areas complete with lighted baseball field, sand volleyball, basketball and horseshoe courts. They have a shelter house with plenty of picnic tables and grills available for use as well as a swimming pool. They have remodeled the old Burt School building which is completely air conditioned and houses two gymnasiums making it possible to accommodate groups of all sizes.
