General Job Summary:

This is a full-time position located on the Emmetsburg Campus. Primary responsibilities are to collaborate with Agriculture and Transportation businesses and industry to develop and deliver training programs. Schedule and promote licensure and re-licensure (CEU) programs and short-term training for specific programs such as: agriculture production, ELDT/CDL, animal science, farming and ranching, agriculture processing and products, agriculture marketing and distribution, commercial application, agriculture mechanics, and technology, horticulture, forestry, agriculture renewable natural resources, and agriculture supplies and services. Successful candidate must be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision. Position may require some evening and weekend hours, and occasional overnight travel. This position is contingent upon generating revenue adequate to cover all costs associated with the program.

% of TIME                                         Essential Duties/Responsibilities



1.      Develop and implement training programs for area companies.

2.      Locate, interview, hire, and evaluate instructors for various programs.

3.      Maintain appropriate records to document progress for reports.

4.      Locate and arrange facilities for classes.

5.      Maintain appropriate communications with customers, instructors, administrators, and other College staff.



1.      Establish and maintain realistic budgets and monitor throughout the years.

2.      Develop and implement certificate programs for communication, customer service, leadership, transportation, and other related short-term training programs

3.      Market programs to ensure adequate enrollments.

4.      Establish advisory committees as needed to provide expertise and guidance in curriculum development and assess program effectiveness.

5.      Personal leadership skill development for industry partners.

6.      Identify contract training structure and opportunities and implement within industry.



1.   Apply for state approval for those programs requiring licensure.

2.   Host industry roundtables and/or conduct surveys to assess client and program effectiveness.

3.   Serve on selected, voluntary committees of the college.

4.   Arrange and/or attend meetings when necessary.

5.   Perform other work duties as assigned and requested.

  10. Ability to make public presentations that are effective and well received.
  11. Ability to access, utilize, input, and retrieve information from a computer.

Special Demands:  Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping,, and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%) Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s  license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications: Degree or experience in sales, business, agriculture, and transportation. Prior experience in training program development or instruction is preferred.

Salary:  $60,778 for a 260-day contract
